When financial planning is discussed later in your studies, you will understand that whilst it is primarily part of the company’s strategic plan, it is the daily financial decisions that increase or decrease profit.
Customer discounts are an area of finance that is coming under more and more scrutiny. Many businesses now question the effectiveness of some types of discounts. In other words, do they truly generate more and larger sales. Do they actually encourage bad payers to pay earlier.
In business there are 3 types of discounts, trade discount, bulk discount and prompt payment discount.
Research each of the discounts and critically analyse your findings in a short essay. Your findings will be marked and graded by your teacher.
Following the marking, the joint findings should be central to a class discussion at the start of your next lesson.
